Obituary of Joseph James Cuomo

Joseph Cuomo was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Rose and James Cuomo. He was raised alongside his three siblings—Antoinette, Jean, and Vincent. After the loss of his father at a young age, Joseph and his siblings learned early on what it meant to set up and put family first. They all went to work at a young age to help support each other and their family, standing beside their mother during those difficult times. Those early years shaped Joseph into a man of deep responsibility, resilience, devotion and character.

Joe learned the value of hard work, respect, and caring for others from an early age. As a child, he worked tirelessly to help provide for his family, a lesson that stayed with him throughout his life. He deeply loved his family and friends and always put their needs before his own. Even when life was challenging at times, Joseph carried a warm smile and a gentle sense of humor that brought comfort and joy to those around him. His kindness was steady, his strength quiet, and his love unconditional.

Joseph was married to the love of his life, Joanne Cuomo, for over 45 years. Together, they built a strong and loving family and raised three sons—James, Jason, and Christopher. Joe was an amazing father and an adoring husband who would do anything for his wife, children and his whole family. This unwavering devotion is what made him truly special.

Joe was a wonderful example to his sons, teaching them through his actions the importance of faith, compassion, responsibility, and loyalty to family. His influence lives on through the men they have become and the values they carry forward each day.

Joseph cherished being a grandfather and shared a deep, loving bond with his grandson Nicholas, who brought him immense joy and pride. He loved his daughter-in-law, Maria, as his own and was grateful for the family they built together. Joseph also warmly embraced Jason’s long-term girlfriend, Lauren, and her daughter, Lily, welcoming them with kindness and making them feel part of the Cuomo family.

Joseph Cuomo will be remembered for his selflessness, his quiet strength, and his deep love for his family. He welcomed and hugged everyone he met and when he did he considered you a part of his family. Those that knew him, knew him as a loving, warm, caring, wholesome and amazing man with a silly sense of humor. His legacy is one of sacrifice, integrity, and unwavering devotion; qualities that will continue to live on through all those who were blessed to know and love him.
