Obituary of Branka Cizin
Branka Cizin, a resident of Staten Island, NY, passed away at her home on December 28, 2025. Born in Croatia to the late Ivan and Jane Cizin, Branka emigrated to the United States in 1965. Following high school, she worked as a Nurse’s Aide at New Vanderbilt Nursing Home. She later earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science from the College of Staten Island. Branka dedicated 35 years of her career as a registered nurse in the NICU at Staten Island University Hospital, where she was deeply passionate about caring for the tiniest patients. Her dedication earned her the Nurse of the Year Award. Branka also obtained a Legal Nurse Consultant Certificate from Long Island University.
Branka had a love for travel, enjoying trips to Croatia, Long Beach Island, Atlantic City, and other destinations. She played a key role in the development of Michael’s Cause, an organization supporting Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, serving on its executive board for 14 years. This cause was very dear to her heart. Branka is survived by her loving sisters, Mira and Jane, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, godchildren, and friends.
Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Saturday, 1/3, departing at 9:15 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Friday, 1/2, from 2:00 to 9:00 PM.
