Obituary of Ellen M. Tierney

Lifelong Staten Island and resident of Dongan Hills, Ellen M. Tierney (Burger) passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, following surgery at Staten Island University Hospital North, after an illness surrounded by her children. Ellen is the daughter of the late Joseph and Lyra Burger (Lagomarsini) and siter of the late Carol Ciccone (Burger) and survived by her brother John Burger. Former wife of Kevin Tierney, Ellen was a beloved and devoted mother to sons, Brian J. Tierney, Daniel Tierney and daughter Tracy Konish (Tierney), a resident of Florida. Not only being a loving and caring mother, but she was also a graduate of St. Joseph by Sea High School, and St. Vincent's School of Nursing (with honors). Ellen went on to work as a registered nurse in the field of Psychiatry for 23 years until retiring in 2012. Burial of Cremains will be in the Spring of 2026 at Moravian Cemetery, 2205 Richmond Road, Staten Island, NY 10305.
