Obituary of Paula Mormando

Paula Mormando, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21st, 2026, at Clove Lakes Nursing Home following a courageous battle with dementia. Born on January 16th, 1936, in the Bronx, New York, to Sam and Ann Wasserman, Paula was the third of five siblings.

Paula shared an extraordinary 70-year marriage with her beloved husband Frank, whom she wed on November 26th, 1955. Their journey together took them from the Bronx to Brooklyn, where they started their family, and eventually to Staten Island, where she resided until her passing.

She is survived by her siblings Eileen and Larry; her cherished grandchildren Jennifer (Matthew), Vincent (Melissa), Nicole (Danny), Alexandra (Mousse), and Carolyn; and her beloved great-grandchildren Olivia, Emma, Gabriella, and Alex. She was predeceased by her husband Frank, her daughter Lorraine and her son Nicholas, her siblings Charlotte and Irwin and many other family members.

A dedicated homemaker, Paula devoted her life to creating a nurturing home for her family. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, particularly during their cherished card games, sleepovers, shopping trips and pizza and Applebees lunch dates. She was an avid traveler, sharing many memorable trips to Aruba with her husband and family. She loved the beach and spending her summers at her sister's beach house in Long Island, cooking for her loved ones, shopping, and indulging in her favorite chocolate desserts.

Paula's warmth, devotion to family, and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched and the memories she created with her family.
