Adele V. Fava, 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Adele was born on October 29, 1947 in Regalbuto, Sicily to Vito and Maria D’Agostino.  She came to America at age 7.  She and her family started out living in Manhattan, then Brooklyn.  She finally ended up in Staten Island, NY where she and her husband, Carmine, started a family together.

Adele was the loving wife of 56 years to Carmine. They married on July 19, 1969. Cherished mother to Danielle Sutter and her husband Michael, Andrew Fava and his wife Melissa.  Dear sister of Gaetano D’Agostino and his wife Gina.  Adored grandmother to Julia and Sofia Sutter, and Emily and Drew Fava. Her grandchildren were her everything.

Adele earned her bachelor's degree at St Joseph's College and earned her masters degree at Hunter College while becoming a full time teacher.  She was a longtime educator for the NYC Department of Education. She started teaching in Bedford Stuyvesant in Brooklyn and finished off at P.S. 42 in Staten Island. She retired after 25 years after pouring her heart and soul into her students.

Adele not only loved teaching, but also traveling with her husband, crocheting & knitting blankets, watching movies, cooking and most of all enjoying time with her beautiful grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
