Obituary of Joseph C. Petti

It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph C. Petti (Joe), announce his passing on January 31, 2026. Joe leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, strength of character and friendship.

Born in Utica, NY to Mario and Josephine Petti, Joe is survived by his adored sister Louise Petti and his love Panagiota Bouboulis.

Joe was a graduate of Notre Dame HS and Herkimer County Community College where he was an honorary member of Phi Beta Gamma. He worked at Griffiss AFB, traveling extensively throughout the Northeast monitoring radar installations for the federal government. Joe went on to graduate from Utica College of Syracuse University with a BS in Business and began work at Alleghany Airlines in the credit union marketing department visiting various sites, helping them establish marketing centers.

In 1973, after leaving Alleghany Airlines, Joe moved to Las Vegas and began a career with Hilton Corp as Head of Surveillance for the Hilton Grand and Flamingo Hilton while also supporting the Reno Hilton and Hilton Laughlin. He worked directly for Barron Hilton, an individual he admired immensely, and was considered Barron's "right hand man". Joe was the "eye in the sky", revolutionizing the use of surveillance cameras in the Casino business and worked extensively with the Nevada Gaming Commission to establish, maintain and adhere to standards related to Casino surveillance.

An avid "old movie" buff, Joe knew every film noir actor and every character they played; quoting movie lines verbatim. He was also a student of history, happy to share his knowledge and insight particularly when discussing US history, WWI and WWII.

Joe enjoyed cooking and was known for his marinara sauce and Sicilian peas. He enjoyed gathering with family and friends, whether it be a family dinner or breakfast with "the guys". He and his welcoming smile will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to St. Jude's Children's Reaearch Hospital in Joe's memory.
