Richard “Rick” Rowe passed away on Sunday February 8, 2026 at the age of 76.

Rick Rowe was a highly respected recording and mastering engineer whose career spanned decades and whose work left a profound imprint on music and film history. Based primarily in New York City, Rick worked at some of the most iconic studios and institutions in the industry, including Electric Lady Studios, RCA/BMG Power Station, and Mediaforce where his technical mastery and musical instincts were trusted at the highest levels.

Among the many highlights of his career, Rick received a Grammy Award nomination for his work on the motion picture Sarafina!, a landmark film and soundtrack that blended powerful storytelling with music of global significance. He also played a key role in the full remastering of Elvis Presley’s catalog, helping preserve and reintroduce the work of one of the most influential artists of all time for future generations.

In addition to his studio work, Rick toured as part of the production team with Leonard Cohen, an experience that reflected both his versatility and the deep respect he earned from artists of the highest caliber.

Whether in the studio or on the road, Rick was known for his precision, calm presence, and deep understanding of sound as both a technical and emotional craft.
