Obituary of Vincenza Imbro
Vincenza "Enza" Imbro, 85, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the beloved wife of Salvatore for 60 years; loving mother of Michael Imbro and his wife Barbara, and Dean Imbro; cherished grandmother of Michael and Salvatore Imbro; dear sister of Marie "Bice" and her late husband Vincent Prestia, Dorothy and her husband Charles Imburgia, and the late Rosalba and late Peter Moy. She was the fond sister-in-law of the late Franca and her husband Neil Aurilia, and Marie and Stuart Milisci. She was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Enza was born on April 21, 1940, in Canicattì, Sicily, where she spent her early years before embarking on a new chapter of her life in America in 1961. She settled in Brooklyn, New York, carrying with her the traditions, strength, and warmth of her Sicilian roots. Enza built a life defined by hard work, devotion, and family. She worked for many years at Chase Bank in Manhattan. During this time, she also began what would become her greatest pride—her family. Eventually, she moved to Lakewood, New Jersey, where she continued to create a home filled with love, laughter, and tradition.
She found joy in life's simple but meaningful moments. She was especially devoted to her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Enza found her greatest joy in loving, caring for, and spending time with them, creating memories they will cherish forever. Enza loved cooking and sharing meals with her family, often bringing everyone together around the table. She took pride in making homemade wine, tending to her garden where she would grow her own vegetables and herbs, and playing bocce with friends and loved ones. Music was always close to her heart—she especially loved singing along to her favorite songs by Frank Sinatra and Andrea Bocelli.
Enza will be remembered for her deep love of family, her warmth, and her ability to bring people together. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she passed down, the memories she created, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved her
Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Saturday, departing at 9:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea R.C. Church at 10:00 am.
