Obituary of Frank A. Menechino

Frank A. Menechino (“Butch”), 81, of Staten Island, New York, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026. Born on September 20, 1944, Frank lived a full and meaningful life defined by strength, courage, and an unwavering love for his family.

Known affectionately as “Butch” to all who knew him, He was a man of remarkable character, smart, adventurous, and as strong as a bull. A proud veteran of the Vietnam War, he served his country with honor and bravery, a testament to his courage and dedication.

Butch was predeceased by his beloved wife, Janet Menechino, with whom he shared a deep and enduring bond. He is survived by his devoted daughter, Dawn Calabrese, and his son, Frank Menechino, as well as his son-in-law, Joseph Calabrese. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Joseph, Robert, Nicole, and Gianna Calabrese, and a cherished great-grandfather to Francesca Calabrese.

Family was the center of Butch’s world. He loved deeply and wholeheartedly, always putting those he cared about first. As a dedicated father, he served as a coach to his son Frankie in both baseball and football, traveling wherever he needed to be to watch him play. One of his proudest moments was seeing his son drafted into Major League Baseball, a reflection of the commitment, support, and love he gave every step of the way.

Butch had a passion for antique cars and found great joy in fishing. He also had a special love for animals and a spirited enthusiasm for the rodeo, especially steer wrestling. His adventurous nature and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures made him truly one of a kind.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Pity.

Butch  will be deeply missed, but forever remembered for his strength, his service, his spirit, and the love he gave so freely.
