Obituary of Donald J. Palisay
Donald Palisay, 88, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, in Orlando Florida. Born on July 13, 1937, in Staten Island, New York. Donald lived a full and meaningful life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and strong work ethic.
Donald proudly served in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he became a Teamsters Union truck driver before transitioning to a role with the New York City Parks Department.
A long-time member of the American Legion Post in Staten Island, New York, Donald valued camaraderie and connection with his fellow veterans. Donald found happiness in simple pleasures. He loved watching game shows on television and enjoyed going out for lunch.
Donald was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Barbara Palisay. He is survived by his sons Donald and Charles Palisay, Arthur Blish: daughters Lori Schiavone and Judith Gurrieri; grandchildren Paul, Eric, Daniel, Nicole, Kimberly, Robert, and Cameron; as well as seven great grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service on April 26, 2026 from 2-6pm at Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10314. Burial will be April 27, 2026 at 1100am in Resurrection Cemetery, Pleasant Plains-Staten Island, NY.
