Obituary of Adriana Peralta Vives, MD
Dr. Adriana P. Vives, lovingly known to many as "Ading" and "Audrey," was a devoted physician, loving mother, and deeply compassionate soul who passed away on April 4, 2026, at the age of 86.
Born on August 30, 1939, in Bangui, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, Adriana carried with her a lifelong commitment to service, learning, and care for others. She pursued her medical education at Far Eastern University, where she began her journey toward a remarkable career in medicine.
Dr. Vives specialized in internal medicine and dedicated her life to caring for patients in some of the most demanding and meaningful settings. She served in the emergency departments at Montefiore Medical Center and Woodhull Medical Center, and also provided care through Prison Health Services at Rikers Island. In addition to her hospital work, she established and led several private practices throughout her career, where she built meaningful, lasting relationships with her patients and the communities she served.
In addition to her medical career, Dr. Vives proudly served her country as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserve. Her time in the military reflected her strength, discipline, and deep sense of duty, and also allowed her to travel extensively and enjoy one of her other great passions—shopping—often bringing home special finds and thoughtful gifts for those she loved.
Above all, Adriana will be remembered for her kind heart, selflessness, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was always ready to give, to help, and to put others before herself. Her warmth, generosity, and quiet strength touched everyone who knew her. She raised her children in Staten Island, New York, where she built a home filled with love, resilience, and unwavering support.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Virgil Vives. She is survived by her son, Jason, and daughter-in-law, Celest; her daughters, Vanessa and Jeanette; her brother, William Peralta, and his wife, Ely Peralta; her cherished grandchildren, Lorenzo, Tino, Jace, and Juliana, all of whom were the greatest joys of her life; and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Dr. Adriana P. Vives leaves behind a legacy of compassion, service, and love—a life beautifully lived and deeply meaningful to so many.
May she rest in eternal peace, embraced by God's love and reunited with those who have gone before her.
