Obituary of Carolyn T. Rivers

Carolyn Theresa Rivers, born Carolyn Chionchio in the Bronx, New York, to Enrico and Emma De Luca, passed away surrounded by her family. 

She was the youngest of three children and lost her father at the age of seven, a loss that shaped her strength and gentle nature.

Carolyn was deeply nurturing. She loved writing, reading, and singing.  She attended Lafayette High School and later earned her GED. 

In 1978, she married Edmund Gregory Rivers, and after nearly ten years, they welcomed their first child, followed by their son Edmund three years later. Her daughter, Emmaleeann, married Felix in 2011, and her son married Mariya in 2021.

Her greatest joy was her family. She was a proud grandmother to Gemma Grace, Jonathan Felix, and Adrian Felix.

Carolyn will be remembered for her gentle heart, her strength, and the way she cared for those she loved. She will be deeply missed.

She never liked to say goodbye, only later. And in that spirit, this is not goodbye, but simply later.

Funeral arrangements will be held on Sunday, April 26 from 1 to 7 p.m. at Matthew Funeral Home 2508 Victory Boulevard, Staten Island, New York 10314.
