Joseph A. Rovere, a lifelong resident of Staten Island, New York, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Born on July 22, 1938, Joseph lived a full and vibrant life defined by dedication, curiosity, and deep devotion to those he held dear.
Joseph proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy, where he was part of the esteemed SEABEES unit. His sense of duty and strong work ethic carried seamlessly into his civilian life, where he became a respected member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 28, dedicating many years of skilled craftsmanship before his retirement.
Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, Joseph embraced life with enthusiasm and adventure. He was an avid skier and scuba diver, always seeking the thrill of the outdoors and the beauty of the natural world. His love of travel took him to many places, each journey enriching his appreciation for different cultures, cuisines, and wines. A true food and wine enthusiast, Joseph found joy in gathering with family and friends around the table, sharing meals, stories, and laughter.
Joseph was also known as a loyal and treasured friend, someone who brought people together with his warmth and unmistakable sense of humor. He had a way of making others feel at ease, often lifting spirits with a well-timed joke or a story that left everyone smiling.
At the heart of Joseph’s life was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan, with whom he shared 58 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life grounded in love, partnership, and enduring commitment. He is also survived by his sons, Joseph and Michael; his cherished grandchildren, Michael, Stephanie, Anthony, Robert, and Jenna; and his daughter-in-law, Lenore, all of whom will carry forward his legacy of strength, warmth, and generosity.
Joseph was predeceased by his loving parents, Mary and Cesare, whose values and guidance shaped the man he became.
He will be remembered for his steady presence, adventurous spirit, sense of humor and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind.
