Obituary of Theresa Cialino

Theresa “Terry” Cialino passed away peacefully at home on April 27, 2026, at the age of 95.

Born on February 7, 1931, to Salvatore and Angelina Faillace, Theresa grew up in Boro Park, Brooklyn.

Theresa married the love of her life, John Cialino, on September 15, 1956, and moved to Staten Island. She worked at Banker’s Trust in New York City before she and her husband went on to build a vibrant family of six children.

As the matriarch, Theresa was a family-oriented woman whose infectious laugh, smile, and spicy personality lit up every room she entered. She found great joy in crocheting, scratch-offs, solving puzzles, coloring, Scrabble, and solitaire, but nothing compared to her enthusiasm and admiration for Tom Jones. Whether she was watching, listening, or singing along, he remained her favorite eye candy and performer.

She was a dedicated and committed parishioner of St. Adalbert’s/St. Roch’s Church for over 50 years.

Theresa was predeceased by her parents, Salvatore and Angelina, and her daughter-in-law, Sandra Cialino. She is survived by her husband (Hon) of 69 years, John Cialino; her six children, Charles (Pam) Cialino, Antoinette (Thomas) McNamara, Salvatore Cialino, Angela (William) Rautenstrauch, John (Moira) Cialino, and Theresa (Anthony) Davis; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Theresa will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, April 30, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10314. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 1, at 10:30 AM at St. Adalbert’s Church, 30 St. Adalbert Place, Staten Island, NY 10303, followed by interment at Moravian Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Alzheimer's Association, or Staten Island University Hospice.
