Obituary of Radhey Sham Malhotra
Dr. Radhey Sham Malhotra, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, surgeon, veteran, uncle, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026 at the age of 86. Born on March 11, 1940, in Amritsar, India Radhey bravely moved to America on February 11, 1966 to make the best life he could for his future family.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Malhotra, to whom he was married to for 57 years, his children: Rita Marie Malhotra-Kuczabski and her husband, George Kuczabski, Michele Marie Pipitone, Karen Marie Malhotra, and Krishan Kumar Henry Malhotra. He was the proud and loving grandfather of Brandon Radhey Kuczabski, Carlo Joseph Pipitone, Cammy Kuczabski, Paul Edmund Pipitone Jr., and Angelina Marie Pipitone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roshan Lal and Rooprani Malhotra and his siblings Ved Prakash Malhotra and his wife Pushpa, Raj Kumar Malhotra and his wife Ram Lubai, Sudhersan Dewan and her husband Jagmohan, Reshmo Arora and her husband Lakhan Lal, Sudesh Mahendru and her husband Subash, Vijay Chopra and her husband Deep, and Uma Malhotra. He is survived by his siblings Neena Arora and her husband Baljit, Baldev Raj Malhotra and his wife Pushpa, and Krishan Kumar Malhotra.
He is also predeceased by his mother-in-law, Evelyn Calvanese and his father-in-law, Salvatore Pugliese. He is survived by his in-laws Rosalie and Joseph Cusumono, Marguerite and Therodore Parker and Salvatore and Colleen Pugliese.
He was also survived by his nieces and nephews: RIshi, Puja, Neel, Dev, Sachin, Sameer, Priya, Ritu, Sumeeta, Neeraj, Dheeraj, Tanu, Pooja, Naveen, Vishal, Vikram, Sheena, Neetu, Vipan, Muna, Rossie, Ravinder, Joseph, Robert, Angela, Andrew, James, Eve, Salvatore, Nicholas and Christen. He was also loved by numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.
Dr. Malhotra dedicated his professional life to caring for others as a respected general surgeon in Brooklyn, New York. He maintained a private practice and also served patients at Flatbush Hospital, Kings Highway Hospital, and Methodist Hospital. To his patients and colleagues, he was known not only for his skill and dedication, but for the genuine compassion he showed every person he encountered.
Dr. Malhotra proudly served in the United States Army Reserves, rising to the rank of Major. He was the Commander of the 349th M.A.S.H unit. His life was one of service — to his country, his patients, and above all, his family.
Radhey played cricket and volleyball in his younger years and still enjoyed watching matches and cheering on team India.
Family meant more to Radhey than anything else in the world. He was the most kind, thoughtful, and generous man, always willing to help anyone in need. There was not a person he met whom he would not be willing to help. He served as a role model not only to his children, but also to his grandchildren, who will forever carry forward the lessons of kindness, compassion, humility, and strength that he taught by example.
Family and friends are invited to attend the wake for Radhey at Matthew’s Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10314 on Saturday, May 9, 2026 from 10 AM until 12 PM. Final prayers will follow at the Rosehill Crematorium, 792 E. Edgar Rd, Linden, NJ 07036 at 1 PM.
