Obituary of Marie B. Sanders

Marie Beatrice Manna Sanders, 96 of Auburn, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home on May 5th, 2026.

Marie was born September 6th, 1929, to Santillo and Beatrice Manna. She was the 4th of five children and the only girl. Marie's mother died when she was just seven years old; her father never remarried and kept the family together.

Marie went to St. Frances de Chantal Grammar School then on to Bay Ridge School High School for Girls where she met her best friend Lena (Lee); they had many adventures together traveling.

Marie's first job was a telegraph operator for AT & T. She worked her way up and most of her memories of working there are fond ones.

Marie's love of reading started when her brothers used to send her books from overseas...she especially loved a good mystery. Some of her other favorites included a good cup of coffee, a nice glass of dry red wine and a bowl of ice cream; especially pistachio.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Noel and Anthony Gatti, her Granddaughter and husband Cassandra and Brian Shea, and her Granddaughter Brianna Bova.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband; Charles T. Sanders, her parents Santillo and Beatrice Manna, and brothers Joseph, Albert and John.

Friends and family may visit the Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd., on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 10AM. Interment to follow at Moravian Cemetery.
