Obituary of Nancy Evans

Nancy Evans (née Chiatto) passed away at age 51 on May 15th, 2026. Nancy was born on

June 18th, 1974 in Staten Island, New York. Nancy was the daughter of the late Gertrude (née Maniscalco) and Frank Chiatto. Nancy was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament in 1988 and Moore Catholic High School in 1992. Growing up, Nancy treated everyone like they were family, she always hosted the best conversations on the front porch of her Westerleigh home; conversations that many people still talk about today. She was a dedicated mother and wife.

She especially loved her two dogs, Giovanni and Luna. She was a pillar in the community as

she had been on the PTA at P.S. 30, I.S. 51, and Port Richmond High School for over ten years. Nancy went above and beyond for the people around her. She was a class mom, volunteer, and helped with many fundraisers. She found such joy in helping other people. Nancy loved to take weekend trips to Atlantic City and she loved to play Let it Ride and Slot Machines. She had a passion for photography, leaving her family behind with 50 plus photo albums. One of her favorite things to do was to watch Steel Magnolias with her daughter and cry at almost every scene. She loved to cook for her family, always making enough to feed an army, even if it was just a few people. She is survived by her children, Christopher Evans and Lila Evans, her husband Gary Evans, her sister Angela Chiatto, and her nephews and niece, Andrew, Olivia, and Thomas Stroud.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, May 22nd, 2026 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to

9:00 pm at Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Church on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026 at 9:30 am. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
