Obituary of Elaine C. Walsh
Elaine Carole Walsh (née Fagen), aged 82, a resident of Monroe Township, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026. Born on January 5, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York, Elaine lived a life filled with love, dedication, and cherished memories.
Elaine graduated from Midwood High School in Brooklyn and began her career as a typist for the U.S. Army. After starting her family, she devoted herself to raising her children while continuing to work as a typist for the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office. Her evenings were often spent transcribing notes from a dictaphone after working all day, cleaning, cooking and helping with homework at home. Elaine's commitment to her family and profession was unwavering.
Elaine was married to Patrick F. Walsh for an incredible 61 years, a partnership she held as one of her greatest sources of pride. Together they resided in Staten Island for 46 years. She is survived by her five children, James and his wife Loretta, Patrick and his husband Thang, Michael, Jennifer, and Christopher. Her nine grandchildren, Jacqueline, Victoria, Elizabeth, Caitlin, Kevin, Lauren, Mallory, Hailey, and Zoey were her absolute pride and joy. Elaine also leaves behind her younger brother Jeffrey Fagen. She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Anne Fagen and her beloved sister Patricia.
Elaine found immense joy in traveling with family. They traveled the far east, including Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand with their son Patrick. She especially treasured trips with her sister Patricia and brother-in-law Richie Arroyo. Cruising the Caribbean brought her great happiness, but it was the annual Labor Day weekend retreats to The Central House in Beach Lake, Pennsylvania that held a special place in her heart. For over five decades, these extended family gatherings became a cherished tradition for Elaine.
A devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Elaine took pride in creating a warm and welcoming home. She loved a clean house, fresh laundry, and good food. Her fastidious nature reflected the care she poured into every aspect of her life.
Elaine's legacy is one of love, dedication to family, and treasured traditions. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her. A Wake will be held on May 31, 2026, from 03:00 PM to 08:00 PM at Matthew Funeral Home 2508 Victory Boulevard.
