Obituary of Nicola J. Volpe

Nicola Joseph Volpe
Age 94
May 30, 2026, Staten Island, NY

Nicola Joseph Volpe, cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on May 30, 2026, in Staten Island, New York. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Nicola served with honor in the United States Army during the Korean War, exemplifying dedication and commitment throughout his life.

A dedicated businessman, Nicola built successful enterprises alongside his brother Joseph, who was not only his partner but also his best friend and confidant. Together, they worked tirelessly to create a legacy of hard work and integrity that influenced many around them. Nicola was known for his strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and unwavering loyalty to family and friends. He took great pride in supporting his loved ones and was always ready with a helping hand or encouraging words for anyone in need. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Helen, whom he cherished and loved to dance with at celebrations of family and friends.

Nicola’s greatest joys included spending time with his family at the beach, boating, surfing, and skiing during the winter months. He was also passionate about photography and traveling, capturing beautiful moments and exploring new places throughout his life. His grandchildren especially loved hearing his stories about his experiences, often affectionately referring to him as the "most interesting man alive."

His family—his children Michele Hosie (Craig), Robert Volpe, Jacqueline Isoldi (Frank), Janiece V. Cook, his 11 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren—were always at the center of his life. He was known for his wise advice and generosity toward his nieces and nephews, always ready to offer support and guidance.

A service to honor Nicola’s life will be held at Matthew Funeral Home in Staten Island on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will follow at St. Ann's Church in Staten Island on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM.  Entombment to follow at Moravian Cemetery.

Nicola’s warmth, strength, and dedication to family will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
