Obituary of Carol Marie Shea

Carol Marie Shea, of Port Richmond, passed away on January 14, 2018, at her home on Decker Avenue. She was the beloved mother of David and Toby and the late Daisy and Lucky. Carol was the best grandmother she could be to Sebastian, her only grandchild, "future astronaut" as she called him. She was the sister to Bobby, Freddy, Nancy, and Donald. Carol was a lifelong resident of Staten Island, and an alumna of the College of Staten Island. After graduating, she went to work for the State of New York. She moved up the ranks and finished her career as an Auditor. After her retirement, she traveled the world, made her own dress, and enjoyed many Broadway shows. Most important, she enjoyed being Grandma to Sebastian. Ms. Shea loved animals, and Daisy, Snowflake and Kitty were her first pets she took care of in her home on Decker Avenue. She allowed her son David to try to take care of turtles and fish. Carol adopted Luck and then Toby from the Northshore Animal League. Carol would want those who need a best friend to adopt pets from shelters. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday, departing at 9:30 am. Funeral Service will be celebrated at Zion Lutheran Church at 10 am. Interment will follow in Moravian Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm.
