Obituary of Edmond J. Farina

Edmond Farina, age 71, of Mariners Harbor, passed away on January 16, 2018, at Staten Island University Hospital North. He was the beloved father of Keith Farina and his wife, Nicole, Matthew Farina and his wife, Kristin, and Dawn Farina, and Melanie Farina and her fiance, Joshua Szczupakiewicz, cherished grandfather of Justin, Alexis, Haley, Nathan, and Zachary Farina, dear brother of John, Margaret "Peggy", Robert, and Michael. Also survived by his longtime friend and companion, Helen Ferrara. Edmond was born in Brooklyn on May 24, 1946. He was raised there and was an alumnus of Lafayette High School. After his days in school, he served during the Vietnam War, stationed in Turkey for two years as a Paratrooper, in the US Army. Edmond worked in his younger years as an Assistant Bank Branch Manager at Manufacturers Hanover until 1991. He later was employed as a Bookkeeper for Shoprite and for PLS Check Cashing. He is described as an extremely hard worker, who worked two jobs at once to provide for his family. Some of his hobbies included karaoke, watching sports, and dining out once a month with his friends. Eddie was always there for his family and friends, who also enjoyed a nice glass of Chivas Regal. In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Saturday, departing at 9:15 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael's R.C. Church at 10 am. Committal Service will follow at Rosehill Crematory, Linden, NJ. Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 10 pm.
