Obituary of Ruth A. Guido

Ruth A. Guido, age 80, of Pleasant Plains in Staten Island, passed away on November 17, 2023 at Staten Island University Hospital. Ruth is predeceased by her parents, Anton Arthur and Ruth Emelia Amon; her husband of 56 years, Joseph Guido; and her brother, Paul. She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Ann Guido of Staten Island; her daughter, Laura McCarron and her husband, Brian, and her granddaughter, Olivia Grace, of Howell, NJ. She also leaves behind nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Ruth was raised in Linden, NJ, where she attended and graduated from Linden High School, and settled in Staten Island after marrying her husband. There they raised their two daughters. Ruth graduated from secretarial school and worked primarily in the insurance and health industries. First and foremost, Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved to travel, especially internationally. Ruth absolutely loved animals and was a volunteer with the Staten Island Council for Animal Welfare. One of her favorite past times was riding horses, as she and her husband were fortunate to own horses for many years. She enjoyed entertaining and loved cooking. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at Matthew Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. A private cremation will follow with a burial ceremony to be held later. Memorial contributions may be made in Ruth’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1999, Memphis, TN 38101.
