Obituary of Attilio Perrotta

Attilio Perrotta, 88, of Monroe, New Jersey, formerly of Rosebank, Staten Island and Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Antonietta for 64 years; loving father of AnnaMaria Perrotta, Matthew Perrotta, Joanne Brophy (Joseph), and Joseph Perrotta (Kristie); cherished Nonno of Julianne, Cristina, Daniel, Nicholas, Joseph and Ryan. He was predeceased by his siblings Teresa Salzillo, Maria Tuosto, Dominic Perrotta, Ida Larstanna and Nancy Ficara. He was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, as well as many other extended family here in America and in Italy. Mr. Perrotta was born and raised in Macerata, Italy and emigrated to the United States at age 11, settling in Rosebank with his family. He was a graduate of New Dorp. After completing high school he enlisted and prouldly served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959. While serving in the Navy, stationed in Italy, he met his future wife Antonietta. They married in 1959, living in Ozone Park before relocating back to Rosebank. When he returned from the service he attended DeVry Institute and studied Avionics. He was employed as an airplane mechanic for many years at JFK Airport with Pan Am, eventually retiring from Delta Airlines. After retirement Attilio and his wife moved to Port St. Lucie, Florida for about 25 years, before moving to Monroe, New Jersey, to be closer to his family. He enjoyed rooting for the Mets and Giants, collecting coins and sports cards. Mr. Perrotta was very proud of his Italian American heritage and was patriotic about Italy and America. Attilio was excellent and passionate about doing puzzles. He was very handy and could fix almost anything and was very social and made friends anywhere he went. More than anything he enjoyed the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 departing at 9:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church at 10:30 am. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
