Obituary of Arill Nyquist

Arill Nyquist September 28, 1969 – January 6, 2024 Loving Husband, Father, Son, Son-in-Law, Brother, Uncle, and friend. Arill Nyquist 54, passed away on January 6, 2024 in Staten Island, NY. Arill met Ernestina, the love of his life, at Tuscarora and 6 months later asked her to marry him. They married in 1995, bought a house and made a home for themselves and their two beautiful daughters on Staten Island. They were married for 28 years. Family was everything to Arill. Arill was an EMT for 3 years and 17 years as a Firefighter stationed in Engine 243 in Brooklyn, NY. He served at Ground Zero and retired from FDNY after 20 years of faithful service. Arill enjoyed his sports, favoring the Pittsburgh Steelers, but his favorite team was his daughter’s swim team; he was so proud. His support and dedication, traveling and attending their meets, was beyond admirable. Arill was a man of God and Blessed with many talents, he was a master carpenter, a musician, an artist, and a photographer who captured many of life’s precious moments. Arill is survived by his wife, Ernestina, daughters Hannah and Hailey, Mother Marit, Father Birger, sisters Maybritt and Sonja, as well as, nieces, nephews, and his extended family in Norway. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation in memory of Arill. Family and friends may visit the Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd., Staten Island, NY on Monday, January 15th from 4:00 – 9:00 PM.
