Obituary of Antoinette D. Whittet

Antoinette D'Aiello Whittet, loving wife, mother, grandma and great grandmother passed away March 10, 2020, at the age of 93 at her home in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Mrs. Whittet was born in Staten Island, New York to John and Frances D'Aiello. She was the beloved wife of the late David Simpson Whittet for 51 years. Mrs. Whittet attended Port Richmond High School and The College of Staten Island. She then began her court reporting career in 1947. Mrs. Whittet was appointed to Surrogate's Court on Staten Island in 1951, and in 1956 to the Supreme Court, Richmond County. She retired in 1981 after 30 years as a supervising court reporter. After retirement, Mrs. Whittet enjoyed traveling to Italy, England, Scotland, and France. Mrs. Whittet and her husband later moved from Staten Island, New York to Cape Cod, Massachusetts and spent some of their winters in Florida. Mrs. Whittet enjoyed spending time with her family, knitting, quilting, cooking, gardening, music and traveling. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Red Hats Association. She also enjoyed volunteering with the Council of Aging's knitting club. Mrs. Whittet is survived by her two children, Elizabeth Cruz and Alexander David Whittet and daughter-in-law Barbara Hayes. She is survived by her four loving grandchildren; Christina Cucchiara, Jessica Cruz, Devon Whelan and Alexander James Whittet and great granddaughter Sophia Anne Cucchiara. Antoinette had three brothers who are now deceased; John Dale, Frank D'Aiello and Stephen D'Aiello. She also leaves behind several nephews and their spouses. Her loving family will miss her dearly.
