Obituary of Guido A. Bastidas

Guido Bastidas 74, of Staten Island was called to eternal rest on the afternoon of May 4, 2020 at Staten Island University Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Maria Bastidas. Loving father of Santiago, Luis, Patricio,and Carlos. Devoted grandfather of Andrea, Karen, Alex, Adriano, Melissa, Nathalia, Leo, Philip, Julian, Gabriella and Nicholas. Guido was born in Ecuador on September 16, 1945; he was an Airman of the Ecuadorian Air Force. He immigrated to New York City in 1995. Guido was a proud and dedicated family man and all around remarkable, selfless, and kind person who was and still is loved by everyone who knew him. He had a love for spending time with his family and welcomed everyone with open arms into his home. His love of God was evident to all who knew him.In his spare time he enjoyed playing volleyball, riding bikes, fishing and being around his grandchildren. He was privately reposed with distinction at Matthew Funeral Home. In light of the circumstances, a memorial mass to celebrate his life will be held at a later date. His family expresses their heartfelt thanks for the generous outpouring of prayers, love and support during this heart-breaking time.
