Obituary of Alphonse Fuca

Alphonse Fuca, age 87, passed away on May 20, 2020 at Staten Island University Hospital North. He was the beloved husband of the late Frances (nee Kelly), Father of Stephen and Christine, Alan and Connie and Karen and Jeffrey Ochmann. Grandfather of Michael and Nicole, Andrew and Randy, Amanda, Alexandra, Alphonse and Nicholas. Great grandfather of Audriana and Alexis. Alphonse went to P.S. 18 and then on to McKee High School. He then entered the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Niagara, Youngstown, NY from 1955-1957. He worked the majority of his cooking career at Midway Diner in West Brighton. He was there for 30 years. He also worked at CK's Restaurant before moving to Saint Cosmas and Damien Senior Living Facility for the last nine years before retirement. When he was younger he also worked for the railroads on Staten Island. He loved sports especially the Yankees, Giants and Rangers. Along the way he coached basketball and was the former President, Board of Director and Manager at West Shore Little League. However, he most enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a native Staten Islander who lived in West Brighton, Mariner's Harbor, Westerleigh and finally Travis. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. A private viewing will be held on Wednesday 6/3/2020 followed by a private cremation.
