Obituary of Emerita Muniz

Emerita Muniz, 103, of Westerleigh, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2020, at her home. She was the beloved mother of Jules Towers and his late wife, Carmen and the late Maria Andujar; cherished grandmother of eight and devoted great-grandmother of eight. Emerita was also the great-great grandmother of two. Ms. Muniz was born in Puerto Rico in 1916, and came to the United States in 1947, settling in Manhattan, before relocating to Brooklyn and Staten Island. In her younger years she was employed as a Seamstress, and continued it as a hobby for many years. Emerita enjoyed cooking and gardening, but most of all she loved the time she spent with her family. Due to the current health conditions, the visitation at Matthew Funeral Home and graveside service at Moravian cemetery will be private.
