This Woman cared for my daughter Tiffany Rampaul as if she were her own. She diagnosed Tiffany at the age of 7 with Acute Lymphoblastic Luekemia. She took the time to explain every detail to not only me, but to Tiffany so that we always knew what to expect. Tiffany was so well read in her illness she was able to tell the Staff what was appropriate and what wasn’t. I was lost as a single Mom and Dr. Joan was alway there for me, for us.. I am so very hurt by her passing and I know for a fact that that Angel got her Wings and will ever be in the Presence of her Eternal Father, God!!! WELL DONE, GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT, TAKE YOUR REST!!!

Dr Graziano was the most knowledgeable person on
ALL subjects and was always willing to listen and advise. She was so dedicated and so humble.... truly a servant of her fellow man of every walk of life, race and religion. She cared for everyone and was an amazing role model as a doctor and as a Christian. And she was superhuman because she could work for 14 hours in stiletto heels! (Hopefully that memory puts a small smile on anyone reading this.) Her death is such a loss to our medical community and also to our family of doctors and nurses and staff who adored her as well as her patients who she dedicated her life to. She will be deeply missed and always remembered.

You will never be forgotten, you took on to my baby from birth, you told me, that she’s SS without crisis. Your initiative for her to transfused every 3wks has tremendously paid off. I love you Joan. You listened to my family, helped me , to let my job, know that I can not be fired, over taking days out to cater to her medical needs. My daughter, just made you her first Mother’s Day card. I know God, will strengthen and uphold her daughter and the rest of the family she left behind. Amen.

Dr. Graziano was a brilliant physician, and great teacher. I have learned so much from her during my three year pediatric residency training at RUMC (2011-2014). I can't remember how many times that I called her at the middle of nights, and asked how to handle hematology pts. The lessons I learned from her have guided me to my daily practice. I love you, Dr. Graziano! You will be missed dearly. Xiaoyan Wu, Associate Professor of Pediatric Nephrology, University at Buffalo

Joan was a very special person. Her generosity was boundless and her love for all around her was endless. Whether it was for her parents, her sister, her daughter, her nephews, her family, or all the loving children she helped and the parents she reassured, her love and understanding always went beyond our expectations. Joan, for the person you were here, we all know the rewards awaiting you in paradise will exceed your expectations. Heaven has received a true angel!

My heart is heavy upon hearing that our dear Dr Graziano has passed on.
Dr. Graziano treated both my daughter Natalie and my son Justin during their cancer battles. Unfortunately Natalie lost her battle but throughout the nightmare Dr. Joan was always there, she was patient, kind, generous, funny she was everything to us. Many years later when Justin was diagnosed it was Dr. Joan again that we turned to for guidance thru the difficult journey. Our family has many memories of this great woman and we will always be grateful for her being there thru our difficult times. To the family I offer my sincerest condolences during this difficult time. We as you will miss her terribly!

No words can express the loss that my family feels in Joanies passing. Joanie was my first friend on SI. We moved into our homes just a few weeks apart. In playing outside we grew to become best friends, we told each other our secrets, our dreams, and shared in each others love and sadness. She was and always will be my "sister", as family.is not always blood but those that we chose for ourselves. I will always remember our trips to Coney Island, to Bulgaria to bring home her loving daughter (her heart and soul), the pagents we took our girls to, our holidays spent together, all of it. Joanie was my maid of honor, Godmother to my children, and an all around wonderful friend. In good times and bad we were always there for each other, for over 50 years we counted on each other. Now my sister has been called home to rest and can be with her parents again. I know she will be in Heaven yet it was just too soon. As much as she was there for us, there were countless lives that Joanie saved and touched, in my heart I know she will be missed by many. Rest in peace my dearest friend, I will keep you in my heart and always love you.

I wouldn’t be alive today if it weren’t for Dr. Joan. When I was diagnosed at 17, fresh out of high school, I was terrified - and because of her I made it through the worst 2 years of my life. She was the one who taught me to never say “I can’t” because she knew before I did that I could, and I did. She was at my wedding 11 years ago because she became a person I loved and held close to my heart so dearly. A day that I was afraid I wouldn’t have lived to see but because of her, I did. I owe the past 19 years of my life to her. And to think I’ll never hear her heels clipping down the hallway again when I go for my bloodwork kills me. I’ll miss you forever, Dr. Joan.

I met Joan when at my sister’s Halloween party. At the time Dawn was a Junior at St. Joseph by the Sea, and she had invited Doreen to the party. Doreen asked if she could bring her sister Joan. She explained Joan was an accelerated student and was going to be coming to Sea, and wanted her to know people so she wouldn’t be nervous starting a new school. Doreen explained her sister was “shy”. Well, here I am standing tall at 4’11” in my witch costume talking to Donna Carlson, and in walks....... Wonder Woman!! Crown, bracelets high heeled boots and it wasn’t a Wonder Woman skirt, it was the actual strapless Wonder Woman body suit! And in her boots, she towered over me...... my first thought was..... “this is the shy girl? I had just turned 14 the month before, Joan was 13 and we were both Freshmen at Sea. I didn’t know I was meeting my best friend. That October night, Joan walked in to our Halloween party, and into our lives! Joanie and I have been best friends ever since. We have been in each other’s lives for 42 years! Some marriages don’t last that long! Joan and I have shared laughter, tears, heart aches...... we were together smiling and laughing at the most joyful moments in each other’s lives....... and crying, holding each when we thought life couldn’t get any worse! Joan was the first person I called when something wonderful happened, and the first person I needed to cry with when my heart was breaking. Joan always knew what to say to make me laugh, when laughing was the last thing I wanted or expected to do. My best friend truly was a “wonder woman” and I loved her dearly. My heart is broken once again........ and for the first time in my life, I can’t call my best friend

Just heard some heartbreaking news, that has shattered me. Dr. Joan Graziano, the amazing doctor that took such amazing care of me through my cancer journey, has passed away. At this moment, I don’t know what to feel, all I can think about is how I owe my life to her. I have flashbacks of her coming into my hospital room and telling me, “ I am going to take care of you” or in the end when she came dancing into my room, saying “Somebody is in remission”. I am so devastated and heartbroken and I have no words. All I know is that I would not be alive today if it were not for her. I am eternally grateful, for all that she has done for me, when I almost died in the ICU, to me almost dying when I had my seizures. It was she, who stood by me, never ever left my side and told me I would survive. Because of her, I AM a survivor. I owe my life to you, I am going miss you so much. I remember texting her and inviting her to my wedding. I hope where ever you are, you continue to shine and continue to spread your love, compassion and wisdom to all that you are near. It still does not seem real. I will forever cherish your love and compassion when it came to me. You are and will always be, not just my Doctor, but a real friend!
