Obituary of Joan A. Conanan

Joan A. Conanan (nee Driscoll), 75, of Travis, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2020. She was the beloved wife of Samuel for 58 years; loving mother of Christine LaFrance and her husband Russell, Adam Conanan and his wife Jean, Samuel Conanan and his wife Susan, and Kerri Hafey and her husband Rory; cherished grandmother of Danielle, Steven, Michael, Meghan, Brianne, Alexandra, Adam, Alyssa, Jenna, Daniella, Savanna, Everly, and Declan; devoted great-grandmother of Melina and Jack; dear sister of Mary DiMartino and her late husband Sonny, Thomas Driscoll and his wife Mila, and the late John Driscoll; fond sister-in-law of Mary Driscoll. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Conanan was born and raised in Brooklyn and graduated from Bay Ridge High School. She relocated to Staten Island in 1970, settling in Travis. She was mainly a homemaker and had various jobs on Staten Island, the latest as a College Assistant for CUNY, at CSI. Some of her hobbies included gardening, traveling the world, and attending live theatre productions. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Wednesday, 7/29, departing at 10 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church at 10:30 am. Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, 7/28, from 4:00 to 9:00 pm. Due to the current pandemic, the number of visitors into the funeral home and church will be limited and all visitors must wear masks.
