Obituary of Marie F. Del Priore

Born in Southern Italy in 1938, Marie Delpriore spent her early childhood in Deliceto, Foggia before immigrating to Staten Island in 1947. Marie and her brother, Eliott, grew up in Mariners' Harbor, where she recounted that her parents, Anna, who made homemade pasta and foccacia and Leonardo, who worked at the Singer Sewing Machine Factory, had a huge vegetable garden which supplied the family produce through every season. Marie graduated from Port Richmond H.S. where she was an excellent student, cheerleader, and active in many clubs like Chorus, Glee Club and Drama. After graduating in 1956, Ms. Delpriore became a secretary working at Citibank in Manhattan while attending night school at Staten Island Community College, where she met her future husband, Ronald Bollmeyer. They married in 1958 and had three children. In the early 80's the couple divorced but remained close until Mr. Bollmeyer's death in 2007. In the mid-80's Ms. Delpriore, returned to work in Manhattan and had a decades-long career working as a legal secretary, working on high profile cases for partners at Lord, Day, Lord, Barrett and Smith and later, Sullivan & Cromwell where she served as Secretarial Coordinator for 14 years, before retiring in 2006. Ms. Delpriore spent her retirement years between NY and Bradenton, Florida where she enjoyed taking the sun and sharing carefree times with her daughter, Lyn Bollmeyer. A fantastic hostess in her day, Marie was happy to be a guest in more recent times, enjoying lively holiday dinners spent with family and friends, hosted by daughter, Lorie Honor and son-in-law Robert Honor, at their home in Stapelton. Ms. Delpriore was a generous and loving grandmother and doted on grandsons, Jack Henry and Kavanagh. Ms. Delpriore had a beautiful soprano voice, was as an excellent cook and gardener, an avid reader and a very patient mother, as the family house in New Dorp was often used as 'home base' for daily summer neighborhood competitions of Hop-Scotch, Ringy, Manhunt, Hide and Seek and Stoop Ball with teams of noisy neighborhood kids always running around the house or splashing in the backyard pool. Aside from her cherished family, Ms. Delpriore loved; performances of the NY Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera and Broadway shows, organizing outings with her Port Richmond HS Alum friends, and sharing the view of Clove Lakes Park from her balcony with her beloved dog, Phoebe. On July 26th, Ms. Delpriore passed away at Addeo Hospice House due to complications related to vascular disease. She was 82. In addition to daughters, Lyn Bollmeyer of Bradenton, FL, and Lorie Honor and family of Stapelton, Staten Island, Ms. Delpriore is survived by her brother and sister in law, Eliot and Betty-Sue Delpriore of Folsom, La. She was predeceased by her son, Dr. Paul Bollmeyer, in 2006. The wake will be at Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd. on July 30 and July 31st from 4-8. With guided reflection and remembrance between 7-8 on Friday. Donations can be made to Project Hospitality or Emma's Place of Staten Island in lieu of flowers.
