Obituary of Mildred T. Tuzzolino

Mildred T. Tuzzolino, age 96, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 7, 2020. She was the devoted daughter of the late John and Rose Lauria. She was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore Tuzzolino. She was the loving mother of Michael Tuzzolino and his wife Vicky and the late Carl Tuzzolino. She was the dear sister of Anthony Lauria and Bessie Lauria and the late Nicholas, Joseph, Charles, Ben, John and Frank Lauria. She was the cherished grandmother of Carl Jr. and Angelina. She was the fond great grandmother of Nicholas and Anthony. Mildred is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Mildred was a life-long Staten Islander. In fact, she was the oldest living resident of her family from the original settlers on Bradley Avenue Pre-Civil War. Early in life, Mildred spent time with her father, John who had an organic vegetable farm which was considered the best on the Island. After World War II, Mildred met and fell in love with her late husband Salvatore at a local dance. She worked as a seamstress until she settled down and was blessed with her two sons. Mildred was an amazing cook that loved spending time with her family. She was the glue that kept her family together. She hosted many holidays and dinners ultimately creating many wonderful moments and memories with those who were most important to her. She will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure to know her. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. On Monday, 8/10/2020, departing at 10:15 AM. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Rita's R.C. Church at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Sunday, 8/9/2020, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM.
