Obituary of Sophie Ackermann

Sophie Ackermann (nee Scamardella), age 90, passed away on September 8, 2020. She was the devoted daughter of the late Matteo and Sophie. She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth. She was the loving mother of Sophie, William (Tisha) and Irene Ackermann. She was the cherished grandmother of Tylar, Briana, Kyle and Shealie. She was the dear sister of Anna Stilwell and the late Matthew, Joseph, Vincent and Louis Scamardella and Rita Oliver. Sophie was born and raised in Staten Island primarily residing in Westerleigh. She attended and graduated from Curtis High School. As a young adult she worked for her father and mother in the family business at Scamardella Funeral Home. She became a Beautician at the former Mr. Pat’s for many years. Sophie was also an independent salesperson for Avon Products and later for Mary Kay Cosmetics where she made many friends. She was an avid New York Mets fan and she was known for her exceptional baking and cooking. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd., on Friday, 9/11/2020, departing at 9:45 AM. Funeral Mass will be held in Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in Moravian Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Thursday, 9/10/2020, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
