Obituary of Anne T. VanName

Anne T. VanName, 85, of Manor Heights, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2020. She was the beloved wife of the late George; loving mother of Mary Maggiore (Philip), Deborah A. Hicks, Kevin VanName (Tonia), Ellen Lizarazo, Patrick VanName, and the late George and late Robert VanName; cherished grandmother of Philip Maggiore (Cristina), Christina Maggiore, Thomas Hicks, Ryan Hicks, Angela Lizarazo (Conor Russell), Andrea Lizarazo, Victoria Davis, Kevin Patterson; devoted great-grandmother of Jasmine, Juliet, Max, Leo, Areos; dear sister of Bridget Sumner (Neil), Alice Murphy, John Murphy (late Lois), the late Helen Murphy and the late Frank Murphy. She was also survived by several loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. VanName was born in New York City in 1934, and was raised there, and was graduated from St. Michael's High School in New York City. After high school, she was a Carmelite Sister for seven years. After leaving the convent, she came to work at the former St. Vincent's Hospital on Staten Island, as an LPN. It is there that she met her husband of 56 years. After her retirement she fostered many children throughout the years. Anne thoroughly enjoyed cruises, and sailed on 18 of them with her husband and family. She also had a passion for travelling to Disney, especially with her grandchildren. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday, departing at 10 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Teresa's R.C.Church at 10:45 am. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Thursday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 10:00 pm. Due to the current health crisis, all visitors must wear masks, and understand that the number of visitors allowed at once will be limited due to capacity.
