Obituary of Tammy Peana

Tammy Peana (nee Cortez) age 59, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2020. She was the beloved wife of John Peana for 37 years. She was the loving mother of Andrew Peana and his fiancée Michelle Graci. She was the dear sister of the late Julia and Emilia. Tammy was the fond daugther-in-law of June Peana and the late Harold Peana. She is the cherished aunt of Monique and Alisha. She is also survived by many close family members and friends. Tammy was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She later moved to Staten Island where she met and fell in love with her future husband John. They were blessed with 37 wonderful years of marriage and a son, Andrew that she was most proud of. Tammy loved traveling with her family, specifically cruises to many various locations and weekends at the Jersey Shore. Tammy worked for Staten Island University Hospital for the past 15 years as a clerical associate. She loved interacting with co-workers but even more so with the patients she served. Tammy enjoyed caring for people in a way that only a family member shows their love and concern. She was truly born to take care of others. Tammy will be remembered as an affectionate, loving and selfless person who always put the needs of others ahead of her own. She will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure to know her. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Monday, departing at 10 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Teresa's R.C. Church at 10:45 am. Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends and will be received on Sunday from 2:00 to 7:00 pm. Due to the current health crisis all visitors to the funeral home and church must wear a mask and the number of people allowed in at once will be limited due to capacity.
