Obituary of Margaret M. D'Alessio

Margaret Mary D'Alessio Devoted Mother of 10 Marge was the last surviving child born to Amalia and Angelo Perrella on 7/18/1928 in Port Richmond. As a young girl she worked in Lobells, a lingerie shop on Port Richmond Ave. During WWII she worked at Halloran General Hospital, a large Army hospital on the grounds of what is now CSI, comforting injured soldiers. After the war she married her teenage sweetheart Angelo T. D'Alessio who passed away in 2009. They raised their 10 children in a house on Bryson Ave. which he built for her, board by board, nail by nail. A devout Catholic, Marge was either at St. Rita's or Holy Family Church. She was a member of St. Rita's mother's guild, Holy Rosary Society, as well as Holy Family's Alter Rosary Society, Grandmother's guild and the Bryson Bells. She often laundered the church altar cloths as well as the priest's vestments. Her home was the place to be for Sunday dinners and summer pool parties. If you were fortunate enough to know her you were always welcome. Mom was a kind sole that everyone would go to for her patient and loving advice, especially when it concerned their babies. She is survived by Marilyn (Mike) DeLuca, Thomas (Ceil)D'Alessio, Ronald (Lourdes) D'Alessio, Maureen (Joe) Carbonara, Rita Vasile, Margaret (Pat) Siliato, Judith D'Alessio, Kristen (Joe Cann) D'Alessio, the late Paul (Olga) D'Alessio, Daniel D'Alessio as well as 20 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. For the past 8 years she lived at the Esplanade and we would like to thank the staff for taking such kind and loving care of mom as if she was their own. The last few weeks she resided at Addeo Hospice. Thank you to the extraordinary staff there also. Rest well mom, we'll take it from here. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc. 2508 Victory Blvd., on Friday, departing at 10:30 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Hold Family RC Church at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Thursday 3:00 to 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers donations to Addeo Hospice would be greatly appreciated. Due to the pandemic, all visitors to the funeral home and church must wear a mask and understand that there may be a short wait to visit due to the capacity limitations.
