Obituary of Jeanne M. Kaspak

Jeanne Marie Kaspak July 23, 1927 – Oct. 23, 2020 Jeanne Marie Kaspak passed away at Staten Island University Hospice, Addeo House, on October 23, 2020. She was born on July 23, 1927 to George La Porte and Anne O’Grady and was raised with her brothers George and Clarence and sister Doreen in Brooklyn New York. She met her husband Edward shortly after he returned from overseas after World War II. They married in 1949 and settled down in Brooklyn to raise their daughters Christine and Stephanie and family dog Taffy. Jeanne was a initially a homemaker but eventually also became a Food Service Manager with the New York City Board of Education spending most of her career at PS 329 in Coney Island. She remained with the Board of Education for 27 years retiring in 1992. Her husband Edward passed away in 1986. She subsequently helped raise her daughter Stephanie’s boys Robert and Christopher and in recent years resided with Robert. She enjoyed vacations in the Catskills and Poconos and was always ready to play a competitive game of pinochle. She always enjoyed visiting and playing with her great grand children and was a devoted member the Church of St. Rita Jeanne is survived by her daughter Christine and husband Philip McGuire, grandsons Matthew (Conni), Michael (Tiffany) and Timothy (Shawna) and great grand children Savannah, Hudson, Philip and Nicolas. She is also survived by her daughter Stephanie Regan and grandsons Robert and Christopher. Funeral will be from Matthew Funeral Home Inc. 2508 Victory Boulevard, visiting from 4PM to 7PM on Tuesday October 27th. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday October 28th at 11:00 AM at the Church of St. Rita, cremation to follow. Internment and a private family ceremony will be held at St Peters Cemetery. Due to Covid all visitors must wear masks and practice appropriate social distancing. Donations in lieu of flowers should be made to the Church of St Rita Roman Catholic Church 281 Bradley Avenue Staten Island New York 10314. A celebration of Jeanne’s life will be held in the Spring of 2021.
