Obituary of Josephine Vargetto

Josephine Vargetto, 94, of Lincroft and Shrewsbury, NJ, formerly of Staten Island, passed away on December 21, 2020. She was the beloved wife of the late Nazareno (2001); loving mother of Connie Marrazzo and her husband, Michael, and Augie Vargetto and his wife Natalie; cherished grandmother of Lisa Marrazzo, Michael Marrazzo Jr. and his wife Ashley, Michael Augustine, and Elena Vargetto and her boyfriend Ryan; devoted great-grandmother of Jessica, Adaline, Cadence, Gianna, and Hailey; dear sister of Sal Vargetto. She was predeceased by five siblings, and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Vargetto was born in Manhattan in 1926 and raised in the Bronx. She graduated from Morris High School in the Bronx. She was employed at the Seven Santini Brothers Moving and Storage in the Bronx, and later worked in Manhattan for Burlington Industries as a Secretary. In 1948 she married her husband Nazareno, and they relocated to Brooklyn in 1961. In 1988 they moved to Bulls Head, Staten Island. Some of her hobbies included crocheting and crafts, listening to oldies and Italian music, and dancing. Josephine was a kid at heart and loved spending time and playing with children and thoroughly enjoyed time spent with her family. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Saturday, December 26, departing at 11:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church at 11:30 am. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Saturday from 8:30 to 11:00 am. Due to Covid, all visitors must wear masks, practice social distancing, and be mindful that a small wait to visit might exist due to capacity limitations.
