Obituary of Lena Barile

Lena Barile (nee De Mola), 101, of Bulls Head, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2021. She was a resident for the last eight years of the Carmel Richmond Nursing Home. She was the beloved wife of the late Dominic (2006); loving mother of Claire De Vito and her husband Richard, Joanne Warshawsky and her husband Philip, and Loretta Montalto and her husband Bob; cherished grandmother of Anthony De Vito and his wife Jennifer, Richard De Vito, Jr. and his wife Graziella, Matthew Montalto and his wife Lynda, Steven Warshawsky and his wife Cynthia, Brianne Christensen and her husband Brandon, and Brian Warshawsky; devoted great-grandmother of Gabriella, Juliana, Joseph, Sophia, Nicholas, Angelina, Robbie, Jack, Violet, Sean, Benjamin, Giulianna; dear sister of Michael De Mola and predeceased by the late Loretta Masella, the late Paul De Mola and the late Frank De Mola. She was also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Barile was born in 1919 in Brooklyn, and raised there and graduated from the Sarah Hale High School. She was a proud homemaker, who loved cooking and was fantastic at it. She made the best meatballs. Lena was quite artistic and skilled at crafting and also enjoyed reading, sewing and solving soduku puzzles. She also enjoyed trips to Atlantic City with her husband. Lena's family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff of the Carmel Richmond Nursing Home for the extraordinary care given to their mother for the last eight years. Funeral from the Matthew on Tuesday, departing at 9:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church, 9:30 am. Interment to follow in Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY. Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Due to Covid, all visitors must wear masks, practice social distancing, and be mindful that a small wait to visit might exist due to capacity limitations.
