Obituary of Geraldine Lacagnina

Geraldine Lacagnina (nee Cardella), 75, of Arden Heights, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2021. She was the beloved wife of Louis Lacagnina for 50 years; loving mother of Michael Lacagnina and his wife Lucy, and David Lacagnina and his husband Stephen; cherished grandmother of Samantha, Francesca and Daniella Lacagnina; dear sister of Elaine Coppolino. Mrs. Lacagnina was born in Brooklyn raised in Bath Beach and graduated from New Utrecht High School. After graduating she was employed at Donnelly's Advertising, and then as an Executive Secretary for Hoover. After marrying her husband, she stayed home to raise her two children and later returned to the workforce for Dun and Bradstreet, also an Executive Secretary. Geraldine was skilled at knitting and as recently as two years ago won a Blue Ribbon award for her crafts at the Richmond County Fair. She was also a great cook and excellent baker. She also enjoyed crocheting and was avid gamer. In addition she was excellent with ceramics work and enjoyed trips to Atlantic City. In lieu of flowers, the family of Geraldine would appreciate donations be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday, departing at 10:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family R.C. Church. Committal service will be private at Rosehill Crematory. Family and friends may visit on Thursday, from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Due to Covid, all visitors must wear masks, practice social distancing and be mindful that a small wait time to visit might exist, due to current capacity limitations.
