Obituary of Joe Kerber

Joseph Edward Bernard Kerber, 10/6/92 – 2/6/2021 Joseph "Joe" Kerber was born at the former St. Vincent's Hospital. He was the loving son of Edward "Buddy" Kerber and Madeline (nee Tortora) Kerber. Joseph was born and raised in Westerleigh and moved to Sayreville, NJ, three years ago. Throughout his childhood Joe attended P.S. 30, I.S. 51, Wagner High School and The College of Staten Island. As a child, Joe played on numerous sports teams (Holy Family CYO Basketball), and played baseball for Westerleigh Little League and West Shore. He was a boy scout at Immanuel Union Church. Joe enjoyed traveling, watching major sports teams, cooking, listening to all genres of music, was a dog lover and also enjoyed planting gardening and landscaping. Joe worked for Industrial Summit Technology in Sayreville, NJ upon the time of his death. Joseph is survived by his parents Madeline (nee Tortora) and Buddy Kerber, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, 23 cousins. He was predeceased by his loving grandparents Bernard and Christine Tortora, and Edward and Joanne Kerber, as well as his two uncles Bernie Tortora and Matt Blane. He was loved and will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Dynamite Youth Center, 1830 Coney Island Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, 11230 (www.dycinc.org) Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday, departing at 10:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family R.C. Church on Friday at 10:30 am. Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 10:00 pm. Due to covid all visitors must wear masks, practice social distancing, and be mindful that a wait to visit might exist due to capacity limitations.
