Obituary of Salvatore Imbro

Salvatore Imbro, 85, of Lakewood, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Enza for 60 years; loving father of Michael Imbro and his wife Barbara, and Dean Imbro; cherished grandfather of Michael and Salvatore Imbro; dear brother of Franca Aurelia and her husband Neil, and Maria Milisci and her husband Stuart. He was the fond brother-in-law of Marie and Vincent Prestia, Dorothy and Charles Imburgia, and the late Rosalba and late Peter Moy. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mr. Imbro was born and raised in Sicily, Italy, and came to the United States in 1953, settling in Brooklyn, before relocating to Staten Island and finally New Jersey. Salvatore worked as a Tool and Dye Maker, most recently for Englehardt, retiring in 2006. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing with his sons and grandchildren, cooking and making homemade wine. Salvatore also grew his own vegetables. He also enjoyed soccer and the NY Mets. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Monday, departing at 9:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady Star of the Sea R.C. Church at 10:15 am. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven, East Hanover, NJ. Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm Due to Covid, all visitors must wear masks, practice social distancing, and be mindful that a wait to visit might exist due to current capacity limitations.
