Obituary of Susan Villanova
Susan (Fiorello) Villanova, of Staten Island, NY. passed away peacefully at her Richmond Center for Rehabilitation home on March 3, 2021. She was born to the late Chiarilla and Antonio Fiorello on August 3rd, 1924 in Ozone Park, NY and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She later moved to Staten Island with her husband and 3 children.
Susan was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 35 years, Roger Villanova, Sergeant, US Army, and by her brothers, Vincent (Jimmy) Fiorello, Sevario (Sonny) Fiorello and her sisters Yolanda Shreeve and Mary Seedorf. She is survived by her sister, Lucy Petito, Susan's daughters Isabelle LiVolsi, Claire Sullivan and Susan Covello, and her grandchildren Suzanne LiVolsi, Marianne LiVolsi, Krystn Sullivan, John Sullivan, Mark Covello, Alyssa Covello, Jacquelyn Covello, and Susan's great granddaughters Isabella and Alexa. Susan loved to spend her time taking care of her grandchildren and making them pastina, a favorite dish of theirs. She was an excellent cook, especially making Sunday macaroni, gravy and meatballs.
As the eldest of six children, Susan helped raise her younger siblings while her mother worked. Susan eventually worked as a seamstress and contributed to supporting her household.
Later in life, Susan worked for The Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City as an Administrative Assistant. She also spent a lot of her time traveling the world with friends and volunteering in a number of senior citizen homes in Staten Island, organizing events and assisting seniors with everyday needs. She was also an active past member of UNICO, the largest Italian American Service Organization in the USA in addition to an active past member of the Staten Island Grandmothers Club.
Her family would like to express sincere gratitude to the entire staff of the Richmond Center for Rehabilitation for the care they provided for Susan over the last year and especially in her final days.
Due to Covid19, there will be no service at this time. There will be a memorial service announced later in the year for family and friends. Susan will be interred alongside her late husband Roger, in St John Cemetery in Middle Village, NY.
