Obituary of Kamla "Glory" Gayadin

Our beloved “Glory” was born Kamlawattie Manohar on December 29, 1963, in Berbice, Guyana to Sukhraji Manohar and Baboo Manohar. Her mother remembers Kamla as being a quiet but stubborn child. One day she refused to move out of the way and suffered a burn on her shoulder which remained there even in her adult years. In 1989, Kamla married the love of her life, Hansrajh Gayadin in Georgetown, Guyana on March 11, 1988. The two met at an airport with Kamla often joking that Hansrajh fell flat on his face when he met her. The couple went on to migrate to America and later have three children, Sabrina, Austin and Shawn, to whom Kamla dedicated her life. She was always supportive, encouraging, and proud of her children, even during her toughest moments. Her love for her children motivated her to remain strong and fight a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Kamla was known for being a calm, loyal, caring and considerate woman who always put others first. Her family and friends can all share stories of her generosity and good manner. Kamla loved to cook which was evident in her career in Dietary as a Chef’s Assistant at NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn. She loved to sing, dance and she enjoyed spending quality time with her loved ones. Her beauty was timeless; her laugh was a special one that will always be remembered. On the morning of March 4th, 2021, in the presence of her husband and three children, Kamla passed away at her home. She leaves many to cherish her memory: her mother, Sukhraji; husband, Hansrajh; daughter, Sabrina; two sons, Austin and Shawn; her sisters Sandra, Shanta and Vidya; her brothers, Jerry and Rajin and a number of nieces, nephews, in-laws and other loving relatives and friends.
