Obituary of Mary T. Falco

Mary T. Falco, 95, passed away peacefully in her home on January 7, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul Falco, loving mother to Joseph and his wife Carmela, Barbara Harriss and her husband Robert, Charles and his wife Carol, Marie Payne and her husband Glen, Thomas and his wife Eileen, Lucille Viverito and her husband, John, and Anthony. She was the cherished grandmother of Lisa Falco Billings, Shannon PayneSchron, Kelly McCann, Christopher Payne, Thomas Falco, Glen Payne, Alissa Viverito, Paul Falco, Kristin LaFleur, Kevin Payne, Michael Falco, Victoria Falco, Patrick Falco and Allison Falco. She was an adored great-grandmother to Matthew McCann, Connor McCann, Courtney Schron, Mackenzie Schron, Anthony Billings, Olivia Billings, Jake Schron, Emma Viverito, Dallas Payne, Reese Payne, Glen Payne, Tyler McCann and Chase Payne. She was a dear sister to Eileen Hartman, with whom she spoke to every day andwas preceded in death by her siblings, William Gogarty, Thomas Gogarty, Ann Brodtman, Kathleen Lafferty. She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Mary was born and raised in Brooklyn and worked for the Brooklyn Navy Yard before her marriage and left the workforce to raise her children. Mary and her late husband, Paul, moved to Staten Island with their seven children, first settling in Stapleton and then moving to her current home in Meiers Corners. They were also snowbirds for 28 years and resided in Largo, Florida during the winter months. Mary and Paul were married for 69 years before he passed away in 2014. She faithfully attended mass every Sunday at Saint Rita's Church. Mary loved to cook and her favorite times of the year were Thanksgiving and Christmas when she would host family gatherings. She enjoyed cruises, trips to Atlantic City, crossword puzzles, dining out, and above all, spending time with her family, especially with her great-grandchildren who called her Nanny Who-Who. Mary will be remembered as an amazing and independent woman and she will be incredibly missed by all that knew her. Family and friends may visit Matthew Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm and Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 2:00 pm-4:00 pm and 7:00 pm-9:00 pm. Funeral mass will be Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Rita's Church. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Mary was a supporter of Make-A-Wish Foundation, therefore in lieu of flowers, donations are asked to be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York.
