Obituary of Richard F. Birmingham

Richard F. Birmingham, 71, of West Brighton, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2021. He was the beloved husband of the late Sharon and most recently Judith; loving father of Richard Birmingham, Lauren Birmingham, and Marissa Rivera and her husband Ismael; cherished grandfather of Arielle, Rebecca, Margaret, Ryan, Jason, Damian, Ashley, Shelby, and Emma; dear brother of Lynn Kazmirski and her husband Edward; dear uncle of Paul Shaw. Mr. Birmingham was born and raised in Staten Island, and graduated from Msgr. Farrell High School. He then earned his advance degrees from Fordham University and Fordham Law School. He was self-employed as a Lawyer with Cause and Birmingham Law Firm, and later served as the Public Administrator in Richmond County and also served as an Administrative Law Judge for the State of New York on Riker's Island. In his spare time, Richard enjoyed reading and occasionally played some golf. He was also a member of The Elks Club, first in New Jersey, then on Staten Island. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Wednesday, departing at 10:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family R.C. Church at 10:30 am. Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Tuesday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Due to Covid, all visitors must wear masks, practice social distancing, and be mindful that due to capacity limitations, a small wait to visit might exist.
