Obituary of Larry C. Basile

Mr. Larry C. Basile Jr., age 90, passed away at his home in Delray Beach, Florida, on March 6, 2021. He was born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY on May 3, 1930 to Louise and Larry C. Basile Sr. He joined the Navy and served during the Korean War. In 1958, he married Dorothea Callan and lived first in Brooklyn and then Staten Island. They had eight children and were married for 44 years until she died in 2002. He married Susan DuBow in 2009 and moved to Delray Beach, where he lived until his death. Larry attended Hofstra University part-time while working as an estimator for George A. Fuller Company. He went on to work for The New York Hospital as a Project Manager until he retired. Larry was a devoted father and deeply caring person who was happy to share his knowledge and help people in need. He loved to laugh, dance, and enjoy life. He had a passion for family, food, golf, and movies, and loved volunteering as a ranger at his local golf course. He is survived by his wife Susan, his children from his first marriage, Dorothea (Rob Blayer), Mary (Pat McGrath), Catherine (Tony Brown), Ann (Don Ballai), Elizabeth (Frank Tota), Eileen (Marc Hawkins), Larry (Tanya) and Margaret and 15 grandchildren, Val Blayer, Patrick, Daniel, and Samantha McGrath, Darcy Brown, Abree Ballai, Marissa (Dustin Zhang) and Frank Thomas Tota (Saika Yamamoto), Kayla, Bridget, and John Hawkins, Christopher, Sean, Nathaniel, and Joshua Basile. He was stepfather to Melissa and Kevin DuBow. Larry was the younger brother of the late Richard Basile and Rosemary Venezia and the beloved uncle of twenty nieces and nephews.
