Obituary of Rocco M Zasa

Rocco Zasa, age 94, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2021. He was the beloved husband of the late Anna Zasa (nee Mastropasqua). He was the loving father of Stephen Zasa (Patricia), Robert Zasa and Mark Zasa (Mary). He was the devoted grandfather of Stephen (Nicole) and Cassandra Zasa. He was the dear great grandfather of Peyton and Rocco Zasa. Rocco was a life long Staten Islander who was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. At a very young age, Rocco enlisted in the U.S. Army serving his country honorably during World War II. In the years to come, Rocco would serve his city as well by joining the FDNY working in their Maintenance Department. In his spare time, Rocco enjoyed ballroom dancing, bowling, archery, hunting and fishing. Rocco was a loving, caring and selfless man. He had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed being around family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Rocco’s memory. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Thursday, 3/18/2021, departing at 11:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Family R.C. Church at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, 3/17/2021 from 3:00 to 8:00 pm. Due to Covid, all visitors must wear masks, practice social distancing and be mindful that a short wait to visit might exist due to current capacity limitations.
