Obituary of Anthony J. Misseri

Anthony (Tony) J. Misseri, 81, of Las Vegas, NV, died peacefully on Sunday, March 7, 2021, after a nine month battle with lymphoma. Born September 5, 1939 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Theresa (Prestano) Misseri and Salvatore Misseri. Growing up, he was a member of the National Guard and spent summers at Camp Drum. He was a longshoreman for over 20 years, working for Moore McCormack in Brooklyn and Howland Hook in Staten Island. He retired and moved to Las Vegas in the early 90's. Anthony enjoyed working on cars, was an expert carpenter, and could always be found playing some of his favorite casino games. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He loved to travel annually with his family and friends to Aruba. Tony is predeceased by his parents, his sister Anna Misseri and his wife Catherine (Clayton) Misseri. They have five surviving children, Anna Misseri (Roe Mockoviak), Gina (Frank) Loperena, Toniann Misseri, Anthony Misseri, and Vincent Misseri; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife Lillian Misseri and his three step daughters, and three step grandchildren. Tony is also survived by his siblings Salvatore (Jeanette) Misseri and Rose (Robert) Braisted. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 18, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10314. There will be a prayer service held at 8 p.m. Burial will be on Friday, March 19, at 10:30 a.m. at the Resurrection Cemetery, 361 Sharrott Ave, Staten Island, NY 10309. In Lieu of flowers, donations in Tony's memory may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (lls.org).
