Obituary of Alphonse M. Brogna

Alphonse M. Brogna, 72 Retired Sr. Court Officer Alphonse (Al) M. Brogna, devoted son, brother, and uncle passed away on March 23, 2021 at age 72, from complications of Parkinson's disease. Born in Staten Island, Al grew up in Westerleigh with his sister Angela Blanchard (Brogna). He is the son of the late Orazio (Ralph) & Louise Brogna. He attended St. Rita's grammar school and graduated from Port Richmond High School Class of '66, with the accolades of being voted as "best looking and best dressed". After graduating from high school, Al served in the US Air Force from November 1966 until July 1969. He did his basic training in Ellsworth Air Force Base, SD. Upon completion of his boot camp, he was assigned to Strategic Air Command (S.A.C.). From there he went to Guam and Thailand. After his tour of duty, he was Honorably discharged. Upon returning home from the Air Force he enrolled in Staten Island Community College (SICC), where he received his Associates degree. He went on to work in the Credit Department of Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City. He became a NYS Court Officer where he worked from 1981 to 2009. He served on some "high-profile" cases during his tenure. He began his career in July 1981 in Family Court in Brooklyn. He completed his career in Staten Island Supreme Court, May 2009. He retired with 30+ years with his Military credits. He was an avid Yankee fan and a huge movie buff. He had exquisite taste in watches and sports cars and owned many of both. He had a love of animals, especially his service Sheltie dog, Mickey. Al is survived by his sister Angela Blanchard, his brother in law Douglas Blanchard, his nieces Andrea Bruno (husband Greg) and Elisa Lino, and his great nieces and nephews, Gregory & Angelina Bruno, and Anthony & Ariana Lino. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 7th at 10:00am at St. Rita's Church, 281 Bradley Avenue, Staten Island.
